Kitchen taps come in a range of shapes and sizes, with a variety of functionalities available. Such as:
Taps are typically either “deck-mounted” which means they are installed through and sit on the kitchen worktop and/or sink; or wall-mounted. Wall-mounted taps are often larger but hinged so that they can fold away flush with a wall. Wall-mounted taps are also often located immediately over a hob so that you can pull the tap out and fill a pan with water without the need to carry it to a separate sink.
Monobloc taps have a single body which is shared by both hot and cold water feeds. They can either have one joint lever to control the hot and cold water in unison, or two independent controls which enable independent control of hot and cold water.
Mixer taps combine both hot and cold water together in the spout to deliver a single stream of water perfectly mixed to the temperature you desire. As there is only one tap spout, mixer units are typically favoured for their simple, space saving elegance. Some mixer taps also only require one aperture within the sink surround and/or worktop.
This is different, and arguably superior to having two separate pillar taps which require two apertures to be cut into the sink surround and/or worktop.
