What is a hand blender used for?

While many use hand blenders solely for making smoothies, a blender can be used for a wide variety of kitchen tasks. Such as:

  • Drinks: Smoothies, milkshakes, protein shakes and juices
  • Sauces and dips: Salsa, hummus, marinara, and other dips and sauces.

How do you use a hand blender?

Blenders are some of the simplest bits of kitchen equipment to use. General instructions on how to use a blender will look like this:

  1. Prepare the ingredients you are going to use, by deshelling any nuts and peeling fruits and vegetables where necessary.
  2. Place the ingredients you desire to blend into the bottle or pitcher (depending on the model you are using).
  3. Add a little liquid (water, milk etc.) to help with the blending process.
  4. Press the button to begin the blending process. For some models, you may have to hold the button down for the desired blending time.
  5. Don’t forget to clean the jug or bottle after use, as well as clean any spills or drops to ensure the continuing smooth operation of your blender.

We have provided general instructions on how to use a blender below, but given that a blender uses blades operating at high speed, it’s always worth consulting the instruction manual that came with your blender before use.continued
