Frequently asked questions

Can this toaster toast 4 slices at once?

Yes. The TSF02 is what's known as a long-slot toaster. This means that unlike our TSF03 4 slot toaster which requires more worktop space, you're able to still toast 4 pieces of bread at once, but in a reduced footprint, making it ideal for when worktop space is limited.

Should you run your new TSF02 toaster empty before first use?

Yes, as with any new toaster, it is recommended to run your TSF02 toaster empty once or twice at the highest setting to burn off any residues from the manufacturing process. This helps to ensure your first batch of toast is free from any unwanted odours or tastes. When doing so, pop open a window or turn on your kitchen extractor to ensure you have suitable ventilation.

How long does it take to toast bread in the TSF02 toaster?

It typically takes around 2-3 minutes, depending on your preferred level of browning and the type of bread used.

Can you defrost bread in the TSF02 toaster?

Yes. To defrost bread in the TSF02 toaster simply use the defrost function. This gently warms the bread before toasting it. This feature is designed to ensure even toasting without the bread becoming too dry resulting in a delicious crunch.

How long is the warranty on the TSF02 toaster?

Smeg toasters come with a standard 2-year warranty, covering any manufacturing defects or issues under normal use.

Is the TSF02 toaster easy to clean?

Yes, We recommend regularly emptying your crumb tray to keep your toaster clean and prevent the unpleasant smell of burnt crumbs from affecting your toast.
To clean a toaster, first unplug it and allow it to cool. Next, remove and empty the crumb tray, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth, and gently shake out any crumbs inside. For thorough cleaning, you can use a soft brush to reach inside the slots.

How much energy does the TSF02 toaster use?

This toaster uses 2,000w and features 6 different browning modes, a bagel mode, and a defrost mode, so energy consumption varies on the setting. However, as a rough guide, toasting bread for three minutes uses approximately 0.1 kWh, which equates to approx. 2.8 pence depending on energy rates.

How to safely dispose of a toaster

There are several ways to dispose of your old toaster responsibly. You can either take it to a local recycling centre, or some local councils now collect them as part of your local waste collection service. Many retailers will also now accept (whether you purchased a replacement from them or not) old electrical appliances as part of the Electrical Retailer Take-Back scheme.
